FAQ
Frequently asked questions
How sourcing, quotations, payment and delivery work at Chihari.
What information do you need to quote?
The manufacturer, part number, model and quantity, plus the delivery city. A clear photograph of the data plate helps, and so does telling us which vessel or equipment the item belongs to.
Can you work from a photograph alone?
Sometimes. A photograph lets us cross-check a worn or partly readable plate, but it may not show a full ordering code, a revision or a voltage. We will come back and ask if we need more.
Do you hold stock?
No. Chihari sources against confirmed requirements rather than holding inventory. Availability is checked with suppliers and stated in the quotation.
Are you an authorised distributor?
Chihari is an independent procurement company. Manufacturer names on this site are examples of products customers request. We are not an authorised distributor for any manufacturer unless a quotation says so expressly.
How long does delivery take?
It depends on supplier availability, export preparation, freight routing, customs processing and the delivery location. Air freight suits small urgent items and sea freight larger orders. Your quotation states the estimate for your order.
Can you handle urgent replacements?
Yes, subject to supplier availability and freight conditions. Tell us the request is urgent when you send it, because it changes the supply route and the freight option we quote.
Can I send a full parts list?
Yes. Upload an Excel list, a PDF, a previous quotation or an organised set of photographs. Each line is quoted separately, so you can proceed with the items that are ready.
When do you buy the items?
After you accept the quotation and the agreed payment has been received. Nothing is purchased before that.
What if the exact part is unavailable?
We tell you and set out the alternative, including what differs. You decide whether to take it. We do not substitute a different item on your behalf.
Can you quote used or reconditioned equipment?
Where it is available and legally serviceable, and only when clearly identified as such. Condition, testing and any warranty are stated in the quotation.
Which currencies can I pay in?
The accepted currency, beneficiary and payment deadline are stated in your quotation.
Can I cancel after approving a quotation?
It depends on the stage. Once a supplier order is placed, and especially for special-order or dispatched goods, charges may not be recoverable. The position for your order is in the quotation.
How are warranty claims handled?
Under the applicable supplier or manufacturer terms, together with the condition and evidence requirements set out in the quotation.
Do you deliver outside Lagos?
State the delivery city and we will price the final leg. The delivery basis that applies to your order is stated in the quotation.
Still holding a part number you cannot place?
Send it with a photograph of the data plate and we will look.
